Yves-Kim Créac’h

Kim is a seasoned humanitarian worker, with over 18 years experience in the humanitarian field at senior level, with a focus on strategy formulation and management of large scale humanitarian operations in complex emergencies. He is one of the founders of the ACAPS project.

Kim has worked for the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) as Country Director for Jordan, Iraq and Palestine and as their MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Emergency Advisor. He was also a field officer in Iraq with Première Urgence in the late 90s; and has held a variety of functions with several organizations in Africa, the Balkans, and Central Asia. As Head of the Merlin Response Team, he led deployments following crises in Uganda, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Georgia, and Haiti between 2006 and 2009. Before that, he developed Merlin’s response to the earthquake in Pakistan. Kim is widely known as an expert on the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) system, expertise that he has also shared in contributing to the policy development of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Needs Assessment Task Force (IASC-NATF), through the establishment of the ACAPs (Assessment Capacities) project.

Kim has a Masters Degree in International Humanitarian Law from the University of Aix-Marseille III.
